Ankara awards planning contracts for metro

The General Directorate of Transport Planning and Railway Systems of the City of Ankara has awarded consultancy contracts for the planning of new metro lines and the extension of existing lines M2, M4 and M5. Arup was awarded a total of two contracts, including two sections of the M2 line from Koru to Yasamkent and Baglica with a total length of 7.7 km and a total of five stations. The second contract is for the design of a 5.5 km extension of the M4 from Sehitler to Forum with four stations. A contract for the new 13 km M5 line with ten stations from Kizilay to Dikmen and the 3 km Kugulu Park – Atakule – Turan Günes funicular with three stations was awarded to Tümas Türk Mühendislik. The planning is expected to last a year, and the next step will be to tender the construction packages.
