US railway technology supplier Wabtec has presented a new road-rail vehicle called Shuttlewagon Commander NXT, which is also a shunting vehicle. The NXT series provides models with different tractive forces of up to 18.7 t and thus addresses various requirements in the shunting vehicle sector. The series is characterised by the patented ShuttleLaunch technology, which increases the tractive force, minimises wheel slip and extends the service life of the tyres. Each model in the NXT series is equipped with modern features such as advanced steering for precise manoeuvring, a dual wheel system for tight bends, and a reliable AAR coupling in conjunction with a rubber tyre drive system.
