Thales wins contract for Montreal Metro CBTC system

Thales has been awarded a contract worth €149 million (CA$217 million) by STM, operator of public transport in the Canadian city of Montreal, to supply and maintain a communications-based train control (CBTC) system for the Montreal Metro Blue Line. The contract also covers the 6 km extension of the line with five new stations from Saint-Michel to Anjou, where construction has already begun and tenders for tunnelling are currently being examined. The operator of local public transport in the Canadian city also wants to upgrade the train control systems on the other three lines in the future.
