Mexico's National Tourism Promotion Fund (Fonatur) has announced the completion of construction of 70 km of Section 1 and 80 km of Section 2 of the Tren Maya project. The construction contract for Section 1 was awarded at the end of April 2020 to a consortium led by Mota-Engil México and including China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), Cosh Group, Eyasa and Gavil Engineering. The Spanish joint venture of FCC Construcción and Operadora Cicsa was awarded Section 2, with the project scheduled for completion by December 2023.
