The Brazilian city of São Paulo is planning to start building two Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines in 2024, which will have a total length of almost 12 km and cost around €692 million (BRL 3.7 billion). The Brazilian government is expected to invest €262 million in the project through the PAC growth acceleration programme. Construction is expected to take up to three years, with a planned opening in 2027. The LRT lines will each be 6 km long and have 13 stations as well as a common station where the two lines are connected. They will be operated by five-car Light Rail Vehicles (LRV), each of which can accommodate almost 450 passengers.
