Voters in Cincinnati have approved the sale of the Cincinnati Southern Railway (CSR) to the US Class I railway company Norfolk Southern (NS). NS had announced the agreement to purchase the 540 km Cincinnati (Ohio) – Chattanooga (Tennessee) line in November 2022 in a deal worth €1.5 billion (US$1.62 billion). The transaction is expected to be finalised following voter approval in the first quarter of 2024 (Q1/2024).
