Modernisation of the LRT in Denver starts in May

The City of Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) has announced it will begin the first phase of a €140 million (US$152 million) Light Rail Transit (LRT) replacement project in downtown Denver in May. The first phase will focus on five sections of at-grade tracks and street crossings in the Downtown Loop and will include the removal of all existing rail infrastructure, concrete, ties, and ballast. Beginning 26th May 2024, D and H line trains will be rerouted to Denver Union Station and L line service will be discontinued. There will be no LRT service in RTD's central corridor until September 2024. After completion of the first phase in September 2024, work will be paused until 2025.
