The Tren Maya railway project will begin operation from December 2023 in successive phases until February 2024. The first phase includes the start of operations on the Campeche – Cancún section on 15th December 2023, followed by the opening of the Cancún – Palenque section on 31st December 2023. The project is scheduled to be fully operational by 29th February 2024. Tickets for the first section of the line can be purchased from 1st December 2023. Electric multiple units (EMU) from manufacturer Alstom will be used on the new railway line. The Tren Maya line will subsequently be linked to the north-south corridor Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT).
