CPTM, the state suburban railway operator in Sao Paulo, formalised the contracts for the purchase of two maintenance vehicles on 3rd October 2022. The first vehicle, an Ultrasonic Track Inspection vehicle, will detect, measure and record defects on the tracks. The built-in ultrasonic device can also detect cracks, which can form into fractures. Mistras South America Ltda. is to manufacture the vehicle, which is to be delivered within 18 months. The second vehicle is a workshop vehicle for the maintenance of the overhead line network. The vehicle is to be supplied by Super Metal Ltda. and is also to be delivered within the next 18 months. The vehicles have a total value of EUR 4.27 million (BRL 22 million).
