Construction contract signed for Ontario Line metro project

The Ontario Infrastructure Authority and Toronto area transit authority Metrolinx have signed a development and major construction contract for the Pape Tunnel and underground stations of the Ontario Line metro project with the Pape North Connect consortium. The consortium consists of construction contractors Webuild Civil Work and FCC Canada, as well as design firms Arcadis Professional Services (Canada) and Aecom Canada. The contract includes 3 km of twin tunnels with two underground stations. The design and construction contract will begin with a 24-month development phase during which Metrolinx and Pape North Connect will determine the scope, risk allocation, and pricing. Metrolinx will then have the opportunity to sign a construction contract based on the designs. The Ontario Line will run 15.6 km from Exhibition Place in west Toronto through the city centre and north-east to the Ontario Science Centre.
