Brightline West receives €2.78 billion for HSR project

Brightline West has secured around €2.78 billion (US$3 billion) in financing for a high-speed rail (HSR) line between Las Vegas and Southern California through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Construction work is to start soon, with the goal of opening the line in time for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Almost 96% of the railway line will run along the centreline of the Interstate 15 motorway, and the journey from Las Vegas to Los Angeles is expected to take around three hours. Construction is expected to take four years, and the new Las Vegas station will be built on 445,000 m² of land north of Blue Diamond Road between the I-15 highway and Las Vegas Boulevard. This is Brightline's second HSR project in the US, after its first line connecting Orlando to Miami in Florida.
