Vale and Vivo to equip railway line with 4G internet

Brazilian mining group Vale is partnering with telecommunications specialist Vivo to equip the Estrada de Ferro Carajás line with 4G internet by 2025. The €45 million (BRL 240 million) installation is designed to improve the safety and efficiency of the 892 km line and will enable the switch from analogue to digital communications. So far, 27 communication towers have been installed, with 49 more to follow. By the end of 2024, all 15 passenger stations along the line will receive free internet. In addition, around 280 free internet access points will be installed at busy locations.
