Ukrainian state railway UZ has proposed a cooperation with Spain to develop a variable gauge system. This is supposed to make the integration of the Ukrainian railway network to the network in the European Union (EU) more seamless. For this purpose, UZ representatives had initial conversations with the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investments on 18th July 2023. The conversations included the potential launch of a pilot project in cooperation between Spanish and Ukrainian companies.
