Trøndelag tenders modernisation of Gråkallbanen LRT line in Trondheim

The Trøndelag County Authority has issued a preliminary information notice for the awarding of a contract for the modernisation of the Gråkallbanen railway line. The Gråkallbanen line is the only remaining light rail transit (LRT) line in Trondheim. The 9 km line runs from St. Olavs Gate in the city centre to Lian on the outskirts of Bymarka. In 2018, the Trøndelag County Authority and the Trondheim City Council decided that, as the owners of the Gråkallbanen, they wanted to find a long-term solution for its operation. The conditions to be clarified include which modernisations should be made to the line's equipment and infrastructure. A joint project organisation is to be contracted to plan, coordinate and implement the modernisation project. The contract is valued at around €3.4 million (NOK 40 million).
