The Territori department responsible for the Spanish region of Catalonia has awarded a construction contract for the Plaça Espanya – Gràcia line in Barcelona to a joint venture (JV) comprising the construction companies Copcisa, Copisa, Ferrovial, and Sacyr. The works, with a net value of around €263 million, will link two rail lines operated by the regional rail company FGC. The contract includes the extension of FGC's Llobregat – Anoia line from Plaça Espanya to Gràcia in a 4 km tunnel, with the construction of three new stations and the modernisation of two existing stations. The project is scheduled for turnkey delivery in four years and ten months, for possible operation by 2030.
