SZ awards contract to modernise section of Brno – Prerov line

Czech railway infrastructure manager SZ has awarded a contract for the modernisation and construction of a 20 km section of the Brno – Prerov railway line. A joint venture (JV) consisting of Sudop Brno, AFRY CZ and Sudop Praha was awarded the contract to upgrade the Blazovice – Vyskov section for speeds of 200 km/h, including three existing tunnels and level crossings and the construction of a second track. Blazovice station will be rebuilt to connect to the existing line to Slapanice, and new stations will also be built in Blazovice, Holubice, Rousínov and Lulc. The project, worth €22.7 million (CZK 545 million), is scheduled to start in 2026 and will be financed by Czech transport infrastructure funds, with an application for co-financing from the European Union's (EU) Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The Brno – Prerov line modernisation project is divided into five sections and is part of the Czech Republic's high-speed rail (HSR) strategy, whose projects are scheduled to be completed by 2031. The entire line will be equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS).
