Siemens supplies CCS technology for railway link to Oman

Siemens Mobility and consortium partner Hassan Allam Construction have won a contract with Etihad Rail to equip a new railway line between Abu Dhabi and Sohar in Oman with command control and signalling (CCS) technology. The 303 km line, which connects the capital of the United Arab Emirates and the port city in Oman, will be equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 as well as additional telecommunication and power supply systems. The consortium is responsible for the planning, construction, and integration of the technology, which will be especially adapted to the desert conditions. The railway link is part of a larger project to connect the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council through a railway network and will be integrated into the GCC railway network.
