SafeCon3D project launched for digitalisation of construction processes

The SafeCon3D project has been launched for the digitalisation and automation of construction processes. It will run until March 2024 and is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK). The goal of the project is to create digital images and overlays of stationary and transient objects on construction sites in virtual space in order to enable fully automated collision detection and prevention in real time. Involved in the project are researchers in Construction Management and Fluid-Mechatronic Systems Engineering at TU Dresden, the IT project management company TP Management, and ECO Fahrzeugsysteme, a service provider for system solutions for rail vehicles. SafeCon3D works wirelessly without camera systems, with each machine only requiring kinematic sensors while a central computer unit monitors all machines. Communication between the machine and the control station takes place via a local wireless network using a Wi-Fi connection optimised by Fünfeinhalb. SafeCon3D serves as the basis for a user-oriented and interoperable assistance system to support and relieve the operating personnel.
