Spanish state railway Renfe will start operating high-speed rail (HSR) cross-border services on the Barcelona – Lyon line from 13th July 2023, and on the Madrid – Marseille line from 28th July 2023. The Barcelona – Lyon HSR service will initially be operated once a day from Monday to Friday, and from September 2023 the service will be extended to seven days. The journey time is just under five hours. The HSR trains for the Madrid – Marseille line have a journey time of just under eight hours. The service will also be extended from five days a week to seven days a week from October 2023.
