On 21st February 2024, the opening ceremony for the restoration and repair work on the cross-border railway line between Xayraton and Mozori Sharif in Afghanistan was attended by representatives of the Uzbek state railway UTY and the Afghan Railway Authority. In accordance with the agreement between the parties, the restoration work is to be carried out in stages, with 120 workers mobilised by UTY for the first phase. In the first phase the plan is to transport freight wagons to Naibabad station. For this purpose, complete restoration work will be carried out both in the B section of Xayraton station and on the 57 km of railway infrastructure.
