Raide-Jokeri LRT line opened

The Raide-Jokeri Light Rail Transit (LRT) line in the Helsinki region was opened on 21st October 2023, replacing the overloaded bus line 550. The 25 km line, which runs from Aalto University in Otaniemi in Espoo to Itäkeskus, serves 34 stops and has interchanges with the metro and the railway. For the operation, 29 Light Rail Vehicles (LRV) of the type Smart Artic X54 were purchased from the Czech manufacturer Skoda Transportation. The construction of the line was developed by the transport operator Helsinki City Transport (HSL), and the cities of Helsinki and Espoo. The new LRT line is operated by Kaupunkiliikenne Oy.
