Plasser & Theurer uses HVO100 biofuel

Plasser & Theurer has announced the introduction of HVO100, a synthetic fuel, to reduce CO2 emissions in railway construction. The use of HVO100, which is derived from hydrogenated vegetable oils, enables the Austrian track construction machine manufacturer to reduce CO2 emissions by 70 to 90%. All of the manufacturer's new machines are now approved for operation with HVO100. It serves as a bridging technology, especially where completely emission-free machines cannot yet be used, and can be used all year round without any adjustments. In field tests carried out in cooperation with the German infrastructure operator DB Netz, HVO100 has proven to be suitable without any negative effects on the machine components or the overall system. The environmental compatibility of the fuel is confirmed by its compliance with EU directives, including the Clean Vehicle Directive and the Renewable Energy Directive.
