Austrian state railway ÖBB has awarded rail machinery manufacturer Plasser & Theurer a contract to supply 56 heavy-duty maintenance vehicles, with components manufacturer Traktionssysteme Austria (TSA) supplying the traction generators. This contract, which was awarded on 26th September 2023, is worth over €250 million. The vehicles, including 21 MultiCrafters for the track, 29 CatenaryCrafters for the overhead line, maintenance, and assembly, as well as six TransportUnits, will be equipped with TGE 59-33-4 traction generators. The generators with power outputs of more than 500 kW will be delivered by the end of 2025. In addition, there is an option for a further 46 generators.
