CPK, the promoter of the major project of the same name in Poland, has received a permit to construct a high-speed rail (HSR) tunnel in Lodz. The permit concerns a section of over 4 km under the city centre of Lodz. Construction work, which is already underway in connection with other phases of the project, began in September 2023. The tunnel is part of the future HSR line from Warsaw via the future CPK airport and Lodz to Wroclaw and Poznan, comprising 219 km of new track and 305 km of track being modernised by the Polish infrastructure operator PKP PLK.
