Planning contract awarded for Prague – Bechovice HSR line

A consortium of Sudop Praha, Egis Rail, and Mott MacDonald has been awarded a design contract for the construction of the 12 km section of the high-speed rail (HSR) line that will connect Prague Central Station with the planned national HSR network. The contract also includes the design of the construction of a fourth track on the Prague – Bechovice and Prague – Liben lines to increase capacity. The new track will connect to the existing Bechovice – Poricany line and pass through densely-populated urban areas, with the consortium tasked with minimising the impact on surrounding neighbourhoods and integrating the track into existing urban plans. The project also includes the design of the new station Prague-Zahradní Mesto. Construction is scheduled to start at the end of 2028.
