PKP PLK completes modernisation of Radom – Warsaw line

Polish infrastructure operator PKP PLK has completed the modernisation of the Radom – Warsaw railway line worth €380 million (PLN 1.7 billion). Accordingly, the line now allows trains to run at a speed of 160 km/h, up from the previous 100 to 120 km/h. Following the modernisation, the fastest PKP intercity train covers the 100 km distance from Radom to the Warsaw West station in 54 minutes, which is 11 minutes faster than before. The project included the replacement of the tracks, the construction of the second track between Warka and Radom, the modernisation of the traction network together with the power supply system and the installation of a new railway traffic control system. The Radom main station has been rebuilt, as well as the existing 20 stations and stops, which include three in Warsaw. Four new stops have also been constructed: Warka Miasto, Radom Stara Wola, Radom Golebiów and Radom Pólnocny.
