ONCF tenders for construction of Kénitra – Marrakesh HSR line

Moroccan state railway ONCF has invited tenders for the construction of the 375 km high-speed rail (HSR) line from Kénitra to Marrakesh. The construction work is divided into seven sections, which are between 36 km and 64 km in length and will run through Rabat, Salé, Casablanca, and Marrakesh. The project includes the planning and construction of the railway line for speeds of up to 350 km/h, the construction of the stations, a maintenance facility for the high-speed trains (HST) in Marrakesh, and the supply of command control and signalling technology. Bids can be submitted until 23rd June 2024. In addition, the construction of a 3.3 km tunnel in Rabat, which is part of the double-track HSR line and runs from the Bouregreg valley to Rabat Agdal station, was put out to tender at the end of March 2024. The construction time for the tunnel is estimated at 42 months. Around €63.8 million (MAD 695 million) was allocated for the work on the Kénitra – Marrakesh line in March 2024. In November 2023, a tender was also issued for the delivery of 18 HSTs for the new line.
