ONCF invests in HSR line Kénitra – Marrakesh

The Moroccan state railway ONCF has allocated €63.8 million (MAD 695 million) for civil engineering works on the planned high-speed rail (HSR) line between Kénitra and Marrakesh. The 492 km line will carry trains at speeds of up to 320 km/h and is designed for a maximum speed of 350 km/h. The new line will connect major urban centres such as Rabat, Salé, and Casablanca, and includes the construction of a new station in Marrakech and a maintenance facility for rolling stock in Kénitra. ONCF has also launched a tender for a €0.95 million contract that includes environmental and social impact services for the project. In a separate operation, ONCF has confirmed the award of a contract for the preliminary design of the Marrakech – Agadir HSR line to China Railway Design Corporation (CRDC), following an open tender process.
