ÖBB will expand the southern line in the Vienna metropolitan area to four tracks by 2034. The expansion of the line between Meidling and Mödling will be carried out in two stages: from Meidling to Liesing by 2032, and then from Liesing to Mödling by 2034. A suburban (S-Bahn) train will then run every 5 minutes between Liesing and Meidling, and every 10 minutes between Meidling and Mödling.
