ÖBB presents first Stadler rescue train

On 25th August 2023, Austrian state railway ÖBB presented the first of a total of 18 rescue and fire-fighting multiple-unit trains under the Servicejet brand. The order worth €230 million was signed in January 2021. The multiple-unit trains with trimodal electric-diesel hybrid drive (overhead line, battery and diesel engine), which can be walked on throughout, are equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2, can travel in both directions at a speed of 160 km/h and tow trains weighing up to 2,000 t. The equipment includes fire-fighting equipment and a fire-fighting water tank with a capacity of 40 m³. The train can evacuate up to 324 people.
