New sleepers for rail network in Zaragoza and Huesca

The Spanish Council of Ministers has authorized the Ministry of Transport (Mitma) to tender, via rail infrastructure operator Adif, a construction contract for the modernisation of track infrastructure on the rail network in the provinces of Zaragoza and Huesca. The contract, with a net value of more than €24 million including supplies, mainly covers the renewal of sleepers on 76 km of the Madrid – Barcelona conventional broad-gauge line on the section between San Juan de Mozarrifar (Zaragoza) and Selgua (Huesca), including the stations of Zuera (Zaragoza), Tardienta, Sariñena and Tormillo-Lastanosa (Huesca). For better ride comfort and simplified maintenance, new polyvalent concrete monobloc sleepers will be installed, which are stiffer, more robust and durable, and have better dynamic behaviour.
