Nevomo confirms levitation of trains on existing railway infrastructure

On 5th September 2023, technology company Nevomo presented the results of levitation tests for its MagRail transport system, which is designed to enable the operation of levitated freight and passenger trains on existing tracks. The tests took place on an approx. 720 m long section of track in Nowa Sarzyna in Poland, with the test vehicle 6 m in length and 2 t in weight reaching a speed of 135 km/h and beginning to levitate at just over 70 km/h. The results show that it is possible to retrofit existing railway infrastructure with a linear motor and magnetic levitation technology to operate levitated trains. Nevomo plans to continue the research and development of MagRail and launch the first version for freight transport in 2024.
