Modernisation progressing on Madrid – Seville HSR line

Adif AV, the infrastructure manager of the Spanish high-speed rail (HSR) network, is modernising the Madrid – Seville HSR line after 30 years of operation. Adif AV recently invested €34.7 million in the renewal of sleepers and ballast on a 65 km section through the provinces of Córdoba and Seville. Of the total planned investment of €650 million, Adif AV reports that it has already used €580 million to improve the reliability and quality of the HSR line. Ongoing measures include the reinforcement of the infrastructure, the installation of the European train control and protection system ERTMS, and the renewal of the signalling and telecommunications systems.
