Mitma authorises financing for HSR integration in Almería

The Spanish Ministry of Transport (Mitma) has authorised an agreement, which has been renegotiated several times, for the financing of the integration of the Murcia – Almería high-speed rail (HSR) line, with a total volume of €234.8 million. The contracting parties are the state-owned railroad infrastructure managers Adif and Adif AV on the one hand, and the Region of Andalusia and the City of Almería on the other. Mitma accelerated the signing to allow the award of the contract on 21st July 2023, after Adif and Adif AV had only received the agreement signed by the Region of Andalusia and the City of Almería on 19th July 2023. Adif and Adif AV will cover €154.7 million or 65.9 % for the integration of the rail line, the temporary bus station and the station parking lot. The City of Almería will cover €34.3 million or 14.6 %. The State of Andalusia will cover €45.8 million or 19.5 % of the investment for part of the construction of the bus station and the station building and part of the access road to the station. The share of the state and city is expected to decrease further with funding from the European Union (EU).
