Construction company Martinus Rail has been awarded a €245 million (AU$403.5 million) contract to upgrade the Stockinbingal – Parkes and Albury – Illabo sections of the Inland Rail line for rail freight transport. The company has been selected as the main contractor to undertake the detailed planning and design work for the track upgrades, construction of new bridges and signalling upgrades. The expansion will enable the operation of double-deck freight trains.
