On 16th June 2023, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) opened its approx. 3 km Regional Connector Light Rail Transit (LRT) line, with three stops. The €1.6 billion (US$1.8 billion) project makes it easier for riders to travel between Azusa and Long Beach, and between East Los Angeles and Santa Monica, without changing trains. The line improves connections and brings the L, A, E, B and D lines together at the 7th Street/Metro Center Station. LA Metro hired a joint venture (JV) of Skanska USA and Traylor Brothers to design and build the line.
