KNR/Dohwa JV plans Katowice – Ostrava HSR line

A joint venture (JV) consisting of Korean state infrastructure manager Korea National Railway (KNR) and construction company Dohwa Engineering has won a contract to design the new high-speed rail (HSR) line between Katowice in Poland and Ostrava in the Czech Republic. The cross-border line is being built as part of a project for the new transport hub CPK. The line is part of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and will connect Katowice with Warsaw, Brno, Prague, Bratislava, Vienna, and Budapest. The design work for the Warsaw – Lodz, Lodz – Wroclaw, Letownia – Rzeszów, and Sieradz – Poznan HSR lines has already been completed, while the design work for the Katowice – Ostrava line is still pending.
