The high-speed rail (HSR) line between Jakarta and Bandung in Indonesia has started operation. The 142.3 km line, which is designed for speeds of up to 350 km/h, is being developed and operated by the Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) consortium, which consists of 60% Indonesian and 40% Chinese state-owned companies. The new line will reduce the travel time between the capital and Bandung from 3 hours to 40 minutes. This is the first HSR line in South-East Asia.
