Italferr appointed to advise and supervise on Rail Baltica project

In July 2023, Eiropas Dzelzceļa linijas, the company responsible for the implementation of the Rail Baltica project in Latvia, awarded Italian company Italferr a contract for engineering consulting and construction supervision services for the 230 km Rail Baltica main line in Latvia. Italferr, part of Italian state railway FSI, was selected as the winner after evaluating the bids of the second round of the closed competition. During the term of the contract, Italferr will review the construction plans, engage international and local experts and supervise construction in accordance with internationally recognised FIDIC procedures. Italferr has been involved in the Rail Baltica project since 2021 and signed another contract in 2022 to support the preparation, procurement, and construction supervision of the control command and signalling (CCS) subsystems. The second tendering round for the construction of the main line is currently underway. The Rail Baltica project is financed by Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and by European Union co-financing of up to 85% of the total eligible costs.
