Italian railway infrastructure manager RFI has awarded a contract for the detailed design and construction of the new Ferrandina – Matera La Martella line to Gruppo ICM with designers Proger, Rocksoil, and Ingegneria del Territorio. Matera will be connected to the Ferrandina station on the Battipaglia – Potenza – Metaponto line via a 20 km single-track electrified line. The line is worth €308 million, and is scheduled to start operations in 2026.
