New Jersey's transit operator, NJ Transit, has contracted technology company Humatics to monitor track condition on New Jersey's rail network as part of a one-year pilot project. Humatics is using its Focus technology, which enables early maintenance through real-time geotagged data on track defects. The solution collects data directly from moving rolling stock and analyses it using artificial intelligence (AI). Having previously been trialled on 16 km of the rail network in New Jersey, the Focus technology is being extended to over 160 km.
