The Australian High Speed Rail Authority (HSRA) started work on 13th June 2023. The Australian Parliament had passed the establishment of the HSRA in a bill to advance the planning of new high speed rail (HSR) corridors. The focus is on planning and building the Sydney – Newcastle HSR service, as well as other HSR links between states on the east coast. On an interim basis, Andrew Hyles has been appointed as CEO of HSRA until a long-term CEO is found through a publicly advertised recruitment campaign.
