Spanish rail infrastructure operator Adif has awarded Hitachi Rail España a contract to maintain the operations control and complementary systems on the Madrid – Lleida section of the Madrid – Barcelona – France high-speed rail (HSR) line. The contract, worth €57.6 million, runs for 48 months and covers preventive and corrective maintenance of the signalling equipment including electronic interlocking systems, switch control and monitoring, the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) Level 1 and 2, Automatic Signal and Brake Announcement (ASFA), power systems and detectors for obstacle monitoring. Maintenance work is to be realised from the Madrid Sur, Brihuega (Guadalajara), Calatayud and Zaragoza (Aragon), as well as Montagut (Lleida) maintenance centres.
