GySEV acquires two railway lines from MÁV

Hungarian-Austrian railway company GySEV has acquired two railway lines from Hungarian state railway MÁV. According to a report in Hungrail's Magyar Vasút magazine, citing the Ministry of Transport, the Csorna – Pápa and Zalaegerszeg – Rédics lines have suffered from an acute shortage of resources, especially staff, and a lack of modernisation plan at MÁV. Transport performance on these lines has been modest recently. The Zalaegerszeg – Rédics line in particular has passenger potential. A discussion is still pending on the reconstruction of the demolished border crossing to Slovenia and the existing line to Croatia.
