Grand Est investing €52 million in rural railway lines

The French region of Grand Est is investing over €52 million in the maintenance of its rural railway lines and branch lines. The funds are allocated for 14 lines that have recently had little maintenance. The extra funding, which comes on top of the €126 million spent since 2016, is intended to avoid speed restrictions or short-term closures. The rehabilitation work is to begin in 2023 and be completed by 2028.
