Government to provide €23.7 million to restore railway network

On 9th October 2023, the Ukrainian government decided to provide around €23.7 million (UAH 912.2 million) in budget funds for the restoration of the railway network. The money is part of the RELINC fund for the restoration of the critical logistics infrastructure, worth about €45.5 million, which also includes €23.8 million for road transport. The contract for the RELINC project, which costs a total of around €565 million, was signed between Ukraine and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) on 10th February 2023. In addition to infrastructure renewal, RELINC also supports the implementation of reforms to improve Ukraine's readiness to realise large-scale and complex recovery programmes. As part of a new budget programme, the Ministry of Municipalities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development, responsible for the implementation of the rail infrastructure restoration programme, has decided to allocate €100 million to Ukrainian state railway UZ.
