Government receives Japanese support for Texas Central HSR project

The US Department of Transportation (USDOT) and the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism have reaffirmed their support for the Texas Central high-speed rail (HSR) project. The project for the 380 km line between Dallas and Houston will utilise the Japanese Shinkansen technology and aims to reduce the journey time between the cities from three and a half hours to around 90 minutes. Japanese lenders have provided loans for the development of the project. However, the project is currently facing opposition from landowners between Dallas and Houston who do not want to sell their land.
