Government appoints Rail Industry Innovation Council

The Australian government has appointed a Rail Industry Innovation Council. The council will be tasked with streamlining practices to increase domestic manufacturing as part of the National Rail Manufacturing Plan. Jacqui Walters is chairing the council, having been appointed as Rail Manufacturing Advocate with the goal of improving the coordination of rail vehicle procurement. Walters has a background in transport, renewable energy and venture capital funding and has worked across federal, state and territory governments. Other than Walters, the council will have a total of eight further members.
