Government adopts changes in rail transport

The Polish government has amended its regulations on rail transport to allow higher speeds and the construction of railway lines without light signals. The changes, which have now come into force, allow single locomotives without ERTMS/ETCS to operate up to a speed of 160 km/h, instead of the previous 130 km/h. In addition, railway lines can now be planned and built without light signals and handle rail services exclusively via ERTMS/ETCS Level 2.
