The Spanish high-speed rail (HSR) infrastructure manager Adif AV will electrify a further 11 km of the Madrid – Extremadura HSR line in mid-September 2023. Adif AV announced the section between Plasencia station and the transformer at km 11/078 would be electrified on 15th September at 23:59. The last electrification on the 90 km Peñas Blancas – Portugal border section of the HSR line was activated in August 2023.
